FARMER'S BANKRUPTCY.
UNPROFITABLE VENTURES, [BY TELXGB.APH.—OWN CORKESPONPENT. ] HAMILTON. Wednesday. A petition in bankruptcy has bc»cn filed by Robert Featherstone, farmer, of Motamaoho. Bankrupt's schedule shows debts totalling £lB4 and assets £46, leaving a deficiency of £l3B. Ia his statement bankrupt said be commenced farming in the Waikato in 1921. He had £2OO and bought a place cf 113 acres fijf £35 an acre, paying £IOO as a clejosit. This ventare was unsuccessful and lie walked off the property. He went to Motumaoho in 1924 and leased a farm of 200 ; acres at a rental of £52 a year. He found that the place would not carry stock. 1 He lost cattle valued at. £l5O thcough lack of feed and through falling mto unprotected drains. A clciarmg sale was held, but the stock realised only £24 more than was owing on them. A creditor pressed him and he was forced to file. A meeting of creditors will be held on February L
