FORGED BANK NOTES.
THE RANDWICK SENSATION. THREE ACCUSED SENTENCED. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Dec. 20. On a charge of printing documents purporting to be bank notes of a £20 denomination, James Tonkin has been sentenced to seven years' imprisonment. Jncobsen has been sentenced to four years' for forgery, and Wright to eighteen months' for uttering the notes. The notes in "their possession wero of the printed value of £3000. The circulation of largo numbers of forged £20 notes caused a sensation at Randwick racecourse two months ago. The police took activo steps, resulting in the arrest of James Tonkin, a printer, William Jacobsen, a photographer, and Joseph Wright, an engraver. Many forged notes wero found in tho possession of the accused.
