VETERANS' REUNION.

EXCURSION ON THE HARBOUR

The annual re-union of the King's Empire Veterans Was held on Saturday afternoon, when a considerable number of the veterans and their friends participated* in an enjoyable harbour excursion on the ferry steamer Condor. In the course of the afternoon the boat steamed past H.M.S. Dunedin, and the veterans salute J the warship and cheered her crew, the compliment being heartily returned. At a gathering on the steamer on tho return journey cheers were given, on the call of Captain H. Goodwyn Archer, for the Earl of Ranfurly, Lord Jellicoe and the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson. Short speeches were made by Captain Archer, Captain J. Stichbury, Mr. F. Jackson, secretary of the South African Veterans' Association, and Mr. E. G. S Hamlin, a member of the executive of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association. —•

A number of apologies for absence were received, including one from the Mayoress, Lady Gunson. A party of boy scouts was on board and at the call of their leader hearty cheers were given for tho veterans and their commanding officer, Captain Archer. The enjoyable nature of the excursion was enhanced by the assistance of a band and a gramophone.
