RUNAWAY MOTOR-LORRY
CRASHES INTO A HOUSE.
OCCUPANTS ESCAPE INJURY.
Loaded with about five tons of metal, a three-ton motor lorry belonging to the Motor Transport Company, got out of control in Grafton Road at 2.15 o'clockyesterday afternoon, ran down the hill at a speed of from 30 to 40 miles an hour, broke through a fence at No. 93, and came to a standstill on the verandah with the radiator protruding partly tluough the wall of a front room and partly through the front door. The driver of the lorry retained his seat for about 150 yds., but was unable to stop the vehicle, and jumped clear, escaping uninjured. The occupants of the house, which is owned by Mr?. E. S. Gillon, .who live* nest door, and occupied by Mr. R. «•" Hills, were fortunately at the back of the building when the crash occurred. A piano standing against the wall near the front door was thrown into the middle of the room by the impact. Hie lorry was badly damaged.
