RACING PERMITS.
Sir,— the allocation 'of additional racing-and trotting permits, I would suggest that consideration be at least given to the issue of an. extra day each to Rotorua and Te Kuiti clubs. This, I consider, is a matter of business. '.Eotorua is a tourist resort, and quite a number of people who cannot get away from business at Christmas time or Easter find their way there about the time the" Rotorua meeting is held. A couple of days' racing, besidss drawing, sporting people there would also add to the variety. An ideal week could be spent, a couple of days' bowling, Saturday and Monday races, Sunday afternoon at Whakarewarewa, and.a couple of days on the trips. If Te Kuiti had a two days' ;; meeting with a day. between it would induce a number of people to visit Waitomo Caves. I think that a. number went there when the combined meeting wa3 held at Te Kuiti, giving added advertisement to the caves. A winter trotting meeting in Auckland is worthy of consideration, and would be heartily appreciated by owners. I think Dargavilla should also be considered for another day's meeting, the expenses- going there for a one day's meeting boing heavy, entailing both "rail and steamer... transit. With the present race meetings in Auckland and a prospective one handy (almost certain), at Pukekohc, I do not think there is any need for further per- • mits for gallops in Auckland. I. am not a member of any. of the clubs mentioned, nor am I horseowner or trainer, or "punter." .. :'; . SroBT.
