PARKING SPACES IN CITY.
The problem of providing parking spaces and garages in Auckland to accommodate the increasing number of motorcars which come into the city every day is touched upon in the report recently presented to the City Council by Mr. J. Tyler, assistant city engineer, on returning from his visit to ■■_ reat Britain, the Continent and America. * "A very great problem which confronts the large cities," Mr. Tyler states, "is that of providing parking spaces and garages for business men and others who do business or seek their pleasure in the heart of the city, and in most places it has developed upon the municipal authorities to provide these facilities. With the natural growth of our city, and the improvement of our roads, we shall soon have to face this problem, and in this connection no opportunity should be los!. in securing areas or basements in buildings to provide for thi; necessary facility, This, I am sure, is one way of keeping our streets clear of 5 anding cars, and assisting our citizens."
