GAMBLING WITH DEATH.
SMOKER IN A MAGAZINE. 1 or smoking in a powder magazine tit the Ogilvic Colliery, William Dinglcy, a storekeeper, was fined £5 at the Pontlottyn Court, South Wales, a few weeks ago. Dingley plc-ided guilty. The prosecuting solicitor said there were sufficient high explosives in the magazine mid a wagon near by, which contained 100011*. .to blowup l lie colliery. The pitshaft was only 50yds. away and the winding engine only 25yds. away. Over 100 workmen were engaged on the pit head. The Magistrate told Dinglcy that he had committed an extremely serious offence, which might have had disastrous cm; sequences. "The only thing which saves yon from imprisonment.'" he added, "is tin- fiiet that there are no dwelling,h.u,e> within a quart r 0 f ;l mile of this •place.
