MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. fPir TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] 'OTOROHANCA, Friday The Otorohanga County Council met tin?, week, Mr. F. Potts presiding. Tim Postal Department notified that it was unable to agree to tho release of the council from the terms of tho bond in connection with the Ngaroraa telephone. It was decided to pay the amount due, £16 14s 3d, and to ascertain whether this was. finality. The Minister for Public Works wrote stating that he had agreed to a grant of £75 for repair work on the OkupataPokanui Road. T?.io Chamber of Commerce urged application to tho Forestry Department for treeu to plant on county reserves, but tho council, while sympathising with the suggestion, decided to reply that it had no funds available. Permission was given tho Otorohanga Gravel and Concrete Manufacturing Co., Ltd., to excavate shingle from Uio banks of tho Yvaipa River within tho area owned by tho company, subject to tho county's rights being safeguarded. In response to a request from Mangaorougo settlers it was decided to invito the district engineer to visit that district and inspect a bridge site which the settlers believed would be preferable to making a new road and closing an old one. Tenders for metalling were accepted as follows: —80 chains of Lunman's Road, S. J. Rankin, £257 6s 6d; Maihiihi to Brock's Road, J. C. Petersen, £1686 12s. a distance of 2 3 miles; Ngahapo Road, P. Anderson, ,E531 10s. .
