PONSONBY CARNIVAL.
BAND FUND CAMPAIGN. The second streets gala in aid of the Ponsonby Boys' Brass Band was held last evening, and proved as popular as the first, which was held . a week ago, when the queen carnival was launched. Ponsonby Road in the vicinity of the Three Lamps presented an animated spectacle during the evening,, and the side shows, surprise packets, and other attractions provided substantially swelled the bands funds. It is hoped to raise the sum of £3000, which is urgently needed ' for • a bandroom, more instruments and other purposes, including free musical tuition in the Ponsonby district. A floral fete and a Venetian "carnival at Shelly Beach after the Christmas holidays will bring the campaign to a close.
