FINE OF FIVE POUNDS.
A fine of £5 was : n oosed on William Matthews yesterday the Onehunga Police Court for assail* a young man named Rowe the prei iou ' afternoon. The Ben-h, Messrs. J. La [--'if and J. Stoupe, J.P.'s, took a seriou ,\'vi ;w of the case, as the assault, was qui's inprovoked, and the fourth of a series ,'itl in a. month. A warning was given that' uTiilar offences in future might result in ini) riso iment without the option of a fine. The accused was given a week ti v;! irh to pay the fine, and £1 of the /.mount was awarded to the complainant.
