MAZAWATTEE TEA.

A POPULAR BEVERAGE.

DISTINGUISHED FOR FINE BLEND.

Friendship in the near east is cemented by cups of coffee, but the traveller who would maintain the goodwill of the people with whom ho comes in contact must he blessed in the possession of good digestion and nerves to stand the repeated draughts of the thick, black, syrupy coffee of the Orient, Among Europeans tea drinking has become an established custom, but unlike the ceffeo of Turkey it is a pleasant social feature, and where the blend is especially good the beverage is doubly agreeable. The Mazawatteo Tea Company, Ltd., of Tower Hill, London, are probably one of the largest tea-packers in the British Empire, and the tea which is now available in all parts of the Empire is much sought after for its blend. Oria of tie factors in its popularity is that the whole of it is blended in London where ths cream of the world's supplies are sent from all over the world. From .that centre the tea is shipped to New Zealand in leadlined chests and then sold to tho public in foil packets, and also in handsomely decorated ten, six or three pound canisters, This tea being scientifically blended, less than usual is required. Somo idea of the extent of tho Mazawuttee Company's business may be gathered from tha fact that on one occasion a singlo clearance from bond in London amounted to 3,779,365'h. of tea. On another a single clearar.ee amounted to 5,138,3991b. Some 200 vci.rs ago the whole import of tea into Great Britain from all sources was only 7,000,0001b. This en ibles us to realise the rapid growth in popularity tea-drinking has undergone, and the extent to which the company meets the demand. At the present time tea i.. extremely high in price and is certain to advance even higher. Tho Mazaw.ittee Company have contracted for the fragrant loaf from various sources for 1925-6-7, a provisioning previously unheard of.
