SHOPLIFTING ADMITTED.
WOMAN AND YOUNG GIRL.
Charges of shoplifting were admitted by a 14-year-old girl rnd a young married woman, for whom Mr. Singer appeared in the Poljce Court yesterday, before IVlr. ,1. Vv. Poynton, S.M., and Messrs. P. Floyd and F. Rowe, J.P.'s.
Chief-Dot octi vo Cummings said the woman and girl had visited a fashionable clothing establishment in Queen Street, where the former stolo goods valued at £4 ; while the girl took possession of clothing valued at £6 18s. Tho woman was admitted to probation for 12 months and the girl was ordered to como up for sentence next week. SEAMAN ABSENT FROM SHIP. Absence without leave from the steamer Mahana was admitted by a seaman, John Mooney, aged 27. Accused, was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment and ordered to pay ~2 7s costs. THEFT OF A BICYCLE. A young man, aged 20, pleaded guilty to theft of a bicycle at Pukekoho on July 15. After commenting on accused's previous good character, Mr. Poynton admitted him to probation for two years, and granted an order for Iho suppression of his name. FALSE PRETENCES ALLEGED. A charge of obtaining ggods valued at £15 by false pretences was preferred against Andrew Hamilton, aged 31. Ho was remanded (<> appear at r JV Kniti next Tuesday, bail being fixed at £100.
