DISCHARGED PRISONERS.
WORK OF AID SOCIETY. The quarterly meeting of tlio Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society was held on Tuesday, Bishop Averill presiding. It was stated that Mr. Justice Stringer had consented to become a vice-president of the society. It was decided that a small legacy from the estate of the late Mr. L. H. Neumegen should be added to the investment account. A discussion took place on the Prevention of Crime Act, recently passed by Parliament, which includes a provision for the better care and supervision of young offenders released from the institutions at Invercargill and Point Halswell. It was reported that arrangements were being made for an office in the city, where dischargees might go for advice and assistance.
