ROADS AND GENERAL WORK.

DECISIONS OF THE COUNCIL.

The meeting of the Manukau County Council was presided over by the chairman, Mr. F. M. Waters.

It was reported that information had been receive", from officers of the Public Works Department that allocations for the current year provided for £6978 being spent by the council up to March 31 next, "his was regarded as sufficient to cover all amounts which could be dealt with up to that date. With regard to the Moumoukai Road loan of £1000 and tho Government grant of £1000, it was decided to proceed with the expenditure of the money, the work to be commenced from the Xess Valley Road intersection and carried as far as possible toward the junction of Hill Road.

An application from Clendon Park, Ltd., for an extension of three months from December 31 of their bond regarding the completion of Plunkett Avenue was granted.

A letter from the I'apatoetoe Town, Board stated it had issued a permit to Mr. S. B'-'ddow to erect a temjiorarv iron shed as a dwelling on the Puhi \*ui Road, hut had since discovered the propertv was in the county are,a. As the building had already been erected, the council was requested to grant a permit. It was decided not to giant a permit and to allow one month for the removal of the build'ng. A letter was received from Mr. J. Horan withdrawing his offer of a strip of land to widen the road between Brown's Road and Puhi Nui Road.

A letter was received from Messrs. Thomson. Fairer and .Terrain stating that Messrs. Winstone Brothers were prepared to maintain the proposed road through their property for a period of two years after dedication if the council would accept a road 12 feet wide on solid with one-half to one batter. The proposition was considered inworkable and was declined.
