ADDITIONS DELAYED.
THE WARKWORTH SCHOOL.
;! QUESTION OF ATTENDANCE.
A deputation from tho Warkworth School Committeo waited on tho Auckland Education Board yesterday to ask that additions to the Warkworth primary and high schools, for which a grant was recently niado by the Education Department, should not bo delayed any longer. Tho board had deferred spending the money on account of the closing down of the cement" works in tho district.
The deputation stated the school attendances had not been affected. r lho average attendance at tho primary school last week was 168, and at the high school 21. Tho latter had shown a decrease of 11 since the beginning of the year, but this was attributed to the bad accommodation. As soon as this was improved there would be an attendance of about 35. Only one pupil had left tho district since the cement works had closed.
The chairman, Mr A. Burns, said that if the pupils were assured accommodation would bo provided Tho additional construction had been deferred purely as a precautionary measure. * The matter was referred to the executive with power ty act. The deputation undertook to forward nn estimate of the number of pupils attending tho high school next year.
