COMMENT IN SYDNEY.
A REPRESENTATIVE SIDE. SATISFACTION EXPRESSED. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Dec. 12. J. Ryder and Dr. Hartkopf (Victoria) have been chosen as the reserves for the team to meet the English cricketers in the first test match should any of the original choice not be available.
The Sydney Morning Herald comments that the Australian eleven should meet with general approval, as it is a thoroughly representative side. It practically follows the dictates of expert public opinion in the light of the season's play.
The Sydney Daily Telegraph says that it is a well-balanced side, and will give general satisfaction. Taking everything into consideration it would bo difficult to drop any of the players who have been chosen.
