VOYAGE FROM JAPAN.
COMPLAINTS BY PASSENGERS.
A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Dee. 12. Serious complaints have been made by second-class passengers who arrived by the- steamer Mishima Main from Japan, concerning the conduct of a party of 40 Maoris on board The latter, it is stated, dominated the second-class accommodation, and on two occasions assaulted other passengers.
On the arrival of the vessel at Sydney a letter of complaint was forwarded to the shipping master's office. Several passengers state that they are prepared to give evidence at any inquiry as (.-, the conduct of the Maoris and the refusal of tho ship's officers to prevent thej objectionable conduct.
