MOTORMAN SUCCUMBS.
LINGERED A FORTNIGHT.
GREAT SOUTH ROAD ACCIDENT.
The death occurred at the Auckland Hospital at 4.45 p.m. yesterday of Mr. William Campbell, the tramway motorman who was knocked down by a motorcar while checking his time-at. a clock in Great South Road.
Mr. Campbell, who was suffering from concussion, did not regain consciousness, and gradually sank to his death. Ho had been for 17 years in the employ of the tramway department, and was highly respected by his fellow-employees and the management.
The funeral will take place at Otahtihu to-morrow afternoon.
A sad feature of the case is that Mrs. Campbell is expected to arrive at Wellington to-day after a trip to England.
