POPULAR POLICE OFFICER.
WELL-EARNED PROMOTION.
Congratulations upon bis recent promotion were extended to Sub-Tnspcctor Rawle by Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., speaking from the Bench yesterday. Mr. Poynton said that ho hoped that the Court would not lose the sub-inspector's services on account of his elevation in rank. Mr. Rawle had always displayed great courtesy am: fairness to accused persons, and his & irt procedure had always evoked most appreciative comment from tho officials.
Mr. R. McVeagh said that SubInspector Rawle was not merely obliging to members of tho legal profession, but also had impressed them greatly by his able handling of prosecutions. ' Sub-Inspector Rawle suitably replied.
