RESIGNATION OF-PRESIDENT.

MR. FRANK DICKSEE SUCCEEDS.

Mr. Francis B. (Frank) Dickstie has been elected president of the Royal Academy. Sir Aston Webb, who has been president since 1919, has resigned, having reached tho age limit.

■ Mr. Dicksee first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1876. He was born in London in November, 1853. Among his paintings are "Harmony," "Evangeline," "The House Builders," "The Love Story," "Romeo and Juliet," "The Passing of Arthur," "The Redemption of Tannhauser," "Funeral of a Viking." "The Magic Crystal," and "La Belle Damo Sans Merci." Sir Aston Webb, the retiring president, was born in London in May, 1849. He is an architect by profession, and his works include a new front to Buckingham Palace, and tho arcTiitectural surroundings for the Victoria Memorial at the palace. He also designed the admiralty arch at the east end of the Mall, London.
