PROFESSOR J. I. HUNTER.

(Rccd. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Doc. 10. The death has occurred of Professor John Irvine Hunter, formerly of Sydney, The deceased had been engaged to give a series of lectures at tho University College, London, but he contracted typnoid fever at Cambridge last wock.

Professor J. 1.. Hunter was educated at the Albury district school and the Fort Street School, Sydney; also at, the Sydney University. There during his medical courso lie won various scholarships and headed the list of candidates for the final degree examination. He graduated with first-class honours and took the University Medal, Hinder Memorial Prize for Surgery and Sande.s Surgical Essay Prize. His record was never equalled bv any other student of the university. He was appointed Associate Professor of Anatomy on the retirement of Professor Wilson in December, 1920. A Press Association message from Sydney stales that widespread regret is expressed tliero at the news of the death of Professor Hunter .fit Cambridge. Dr. Ernest Joseph Schuster was born loon y ' , 1850 ' He hpf,amc a barrister in J-OJU, and was appointed a K.C. two years ago. Educated at Frankfort and Geneva, ho obtained the degree of Doctor of Law in the University of Munich. Ho was managing partner of tho firm of Schuster, J>on and Company, of Cannon Street, London, from 1873 to 1888. He was a member of the executive of the Society of Comparative Legislation, and also of the Council of the International Law Association. He had lectured for tho Institute of Bankers and for the School of Economics and Political Science. He was tho author of several legal textbooks. <
