TELEGRAPH POLE FALLS.
A SINGULAR ACCIDENT. [BY TELEG&APH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT 3 WHAXGAREI. Thursday. When removing wires from the top of a 24ft. telegraph role in the new railway station yard at Whangarei this morning, Efdward Burroughs, aged &> years, had a narrow escape from being killed. Owing to the. wet weather and the fact that digging had been done round the foot the pole fell over. MrBurroughs struck the ground on his. . shoulder and bounced into a six-feet-deep drain, sustaining only a frac'ured collarbone and a number of wounds on the shoulder and face. He was removed . the hospital, where ho i* progressing satisfactorily. • ■
