PEACHES AND APPLES.
LOSSES OF ORCHARDISTS.
Considerable damage was caused to the orchards in Northern districts as a result of Wednesday's gale. It is reported that orchardists at Henderson, Oratia, Huapai, and Kivorhead have sustained material losses through the damaging effect of the wind and rain. Between 4 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. the storm approached hurricane fury, and young orchards not enjoying much shelter were frequent victims. Branches wcro torn off, and young fruit was stripped from a great many trees, particularly peaches and apples.
