A SUGGESTED RESERVE.
SUBDIVISION OF PROPERTY. OWNER'S OFFER TO COUNCIL. A proposal for the formation of a small Reserve- oir-.soine four acre 3 at the lower end of Portland Road was considered by the City Council last evening. The proposal was embodied in an application for approval of a plan of subdivision of property fronted by Scheriff Road, Portland Road and Brown Street, the council being asked to accept an area of about two acres in place of the formation and dedication of a roadway. It was reported that the council's requirements could be met by forming a footpath and carriageway at one side of the area to nerve a number of sections, leaving tha icst of the road to be added to the two acres offered and treated as a reserve.. It was estimated that the area would accommodate about 11 tennis courts and bo pf great benefit to the residents. The council decided to ask the owner to pay to the council the sum of £BUO aud convey to the council the area of two acres fronting Portland Road. The couu cil would then spend the sum of £800 pn road formation, and treat the remaining a«a of roadway as part of a Reserve.
