YOUNG WOMAN'S THEFTS.
SAVINGS BANK WITHDRAWAL.
COMMITTAL FOR SENTENCE.
The forgery and uttering of a withdrawal slip for £40 9s on the Auckland Post Office Savings Bank resulted in the appearance of a young married woman, Doris Helen Brown, in the Police Court, before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., yesterday. Accused was also charged with having stolen a Post Office Savings Bank book and with having stolen £20 while employed at Kaurimu.
Detective Lambert said accused admitted she had stolen the bank book from a young woman with whom sho shared a room at Takapuna. She had presented the book at the bank and said she wished to close her account. After completing the necessary formalities she drew £40 9s. Accused had also confessed to witness that she had tolnn £20 from her employer at Rauriniu, and had then left to visit her relatives in the South Island.
A plea of guilty was entered to all charges, and accused was committed to the Supreme Court, for sentence.
