WOMAN'S MAINTENANCE
AUCKLAND ORDER AT HOME. DOUBT AS TO THE MARRIAGE.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 9.
David Williams, of Merthyr, was summoned on an.order from Auckland, ordering him to pay his wife, Catherine, -40s a week for maintenance. Williams pleaded that when he married the woman he understood she had divorced her husband, but he had since found that the decree had not been made absolute when she married Williams.
In view of the evidence that Williams had never been properly married the magistrate declined to confirm the order. He is, however, sending the papers in the case to Auckland.
