STORM OF PROTEST AROUSED.
Australian and N.X. Cable Association. (Reed. 8.3 p.m.) ROME. Dec. p. The text of Ibe new press law lias loused a storm of protest. The penalties include six months' to three years' imprisonment for anyone who publishes false news which may damage the national credit at Lome or abroad ; create alarm and disturb the public order; or prejudice diplomatic action.
Other offences are: Inciting the people to actions calculated to intensify class hatred inciting to disobedience of the law; and libelling the King, the Pope C: any institutions of. the country..
