CIVIC JUBILEE CELEBRATED. AN UP-TO-DATE BOROUGH. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] NELSON. Saturday. Nelson's civic jubilee was celebrated to-day by a gathering at the church steps, when addresses were delivered by the Mayor, Mr. W. Lock, and Mr. H. Atmore, M.P. Messages from the Prime Minister, Sir Francis Bell (who was born in Nelson), and Sir Robert Stout were read. It was pointed out that Nelson possesses all the modern services provided in up-to-dato communities. Over 1000 children from the country districts were brought in by rail and entertained in connection with the children's annual gala day.
