CRASH FROM BALCONY.
HOSPITAL PATIENT'S DEATH
FATALITY AT CHRISTCHURCH.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
CHRTSTCHUECH. Saturday
A woman, Ada Emily Lino, aged 45 years, widow of the late William Line, Sydenham, fell from the balcony of the Christchurch Hospital last evening to the asphalt below. Life was extinct when she was picked up.
The deceased was seen to climb on to the rail of the balcony at 10.50 p.m. After staying there for a few moments she either missed her hold or deliberately jumped over. There was no apparent reason why sho should have committed suicide. She was in no way a mental case, and was not seriously ill, but it is stated that she was nervous and exciteable. She had been admitted to tho hospital on the evening of November 3, suffering from an enlarged thyroid gland. Her condition daily improved under tho treatment she received, and she was to have left the institution yesterday. After an X-ray examination in tho morning, however, it was decided to keep her in the institution until the result of the examination could be ascertained.
