THE TAUPIRI ROADS.
LOAN PROPOSAL DEFEATED.
LARGE MAJORITY AGAINST. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON. Friday. The proposal submitted by the Waikato County Council to the ratepayers in the Taupiri rating district to borrow £28,000, was yesterday defeated by nearly a two to ono majority, the voting being 78 for and 137 against. The proposed loan was for the construction and metalling of roads in the Taupiri riding, and also to purchase a crusher and other machinery.
