POVERTY BAY SHEEP.
SOUTH ISLAND PURCHASES.
GOOD PRICES RECEIVED.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —own CORRESPONDENT.] GISBORNE. Friday. From the number of inquiries which have been received from the South Island fcr Poverty Bay ewes, it is evident that farmers there appreciate the quality of the stock which went forward last sesason. Two Southern buyers have been operating in the district during the past fortnight, and they have purchased more than 5000 ewes. The first shipments of these will probably be made in January. The farmers are well satisfied with the price received, which is well in advance of anything obtained during recent years.
