OVER THE WALL.

The twins looked as if batter would not melt; In their mouths. But they were very tiresome, neighbours, for they were always sending their balls over the wall into the nest garden. It belonged to two old ladies and at last one of them, Miss Jane, got quite cross about it, and said to Tom: "Now listen, little boy. You must not come ringing at the bell asking for balls any more." "Cross old thing!" said Tom. And the next time the ball went over the wall —which was in about half an hour—Tom climbed over into the next garden and fetched it. On his way back he fell headlong into a bed of carnations, and Miss Alice caught him. She was terribly angry. She said Tom was the naughtiest boy she had ever seen, and if ever he came into her garden again she would fetch a pohoeman. "And if anything belonging to you comes over this wail again we shall keep it!" scolded Miss Jane. "Nasty thing!" said, the twins. "I wish something of theirs would Come over this side for as to keep!" Before long something belonging to the old ladies did come over the wall—their ■.edato old cat, Biddy, who usually walked only in her own beautiful garden. "We'll keep her!" cried Tom. T 'Catch her, Tiny!" And the surprised Biddy was made a prisoner in the outhouse. Then the twins ran back to the wall, and listened to the old ladies crying: "Biddy! Pass!
