SAFE-BREAKING EPIDEMIC
ANOTHER WELLINGTON CRIME
UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT.
[BX TELEGRAPH. —OWN COftnESFONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Sunday. Tho third exploit of tho safe-blowers who commenced operations in Wellington last week was perpetrated on Friday night, when an unsuccessful attempt was rnade s to dynamite the safe in the premises of Messrs. Booth and Company, timber merchants, Constable Street. The wouldbe thieves, who gained an entrance to the building by forcing a side window, placed a charge in the lock, which, however, resisted the explosive.
