BUILDING SOCIETY'S YEAR.
RECORD ACHIEVEMENT.
The first annual report of the Northern Terminating Building Society states that eight groups are operating, and the ninth will soon be operating. As each group comprises 2000 shares, this will make the society the second largest co-operative one in New Zealand, a remarkable achievement for the first year, and probably a record among building societies. During the year £31,287 were received in subscriptions, and the advances totalled £28,600. The net profits were £6605, the profits per share being as follow: —Group 1, lis 2d; group 2, 10s 8d; group 3, 13s 2d; group 4, 8s 9d; group 5, 7s 3d; group 6, 9s 6d; group 7, 4s 6a.
