GIFT TO AMATEUR PRODUCER.
[BJ TELEGRAPH. —OWN fOItMSFONDENT.] WHA£iGABEI. Saturday. After a rehearsal of "The Quaker Girl," by members of the Waiata Society last evening, Mrs. Hulme, of Christchurch, who had rendered valuable help as producer, was presented, on the eve of her departure, with a pearl necklace. When making the presentation, Mr. F. Morrison expressed the regret of the performers thfit Mrs. Hnlme wa9 unable to stay in Whangarei until the production of the opera. The balance-sheet sul>mitfced at the annual meeting of the Whangarei Rowing Club disclosed a debit balance of £192 15s in overdraft. This was due chiefly to the expenditure of over £200 on new plant. It was decided to take steps to give the guarantors adequate security over the club's possessions. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. A. J. Murdoch, ALP.; president, Mr. A. D. Jack (on casting vote of chairman, Mr. Hosking having also been nominated); vice-presidents, Messrs. R. G. Hosking, and W. N. Jack; captain, Mr. R. W. Strugnell; vice-captain, Mr. N. Munro; secretary, Mr. R. K Trimmer; treasurer. Mr. T. V. Macken; committee, Messrs. M. Conway, A. T. Emerson, H. Hannam, A. H. Curtis, A. S. Bevin, B. Bray, R. H. Allan, and K. Nash.
