AUCKLAND V. WELLINGTON.
The annal 20-asidc telegraphic match was concluded on Saturday evening, 14 games being completed when play ceased. Six games are marked incompletes and are reserved for arbitration. The Wellington team will probably bo returned winners, as thoy have a pronounced lead at proscut, and aro not likely to bo displaced by the " washing-up " of the unfinished games. *
M. KOSTICH'S LAST EVENING. M. Kostich, the eminent European chess master, completes his two-months' tour of Now Zealand this evening, when he plays a simultaneous match against allcomers at His Majesty's Arcade. It is hoped to havo at least 40 boards engaged. M. Kostieh's record in New Zealand is as follows:—Played 441 games; won, 374; drawn, 59, and lost eight. A record attendance is expected this evening as it -will bo the last opportunity of seeing M. Kostich in action.. He leaves for Sydney to-morrow to complete his Australian engagements prior to visiting the various chess centres in South Africa.
