WHAKATANE CONNECTION.
AN EARLY START WANTED.
[By telegraph.—special ■reporter.] WELLINGTON. Friday. A petition has been presented to Parliament on behalf of J. Franklin and 97 others, asking that the Whakatane connection -with the East Coast Main Trunk railway be authorised this session, and provision made for the cost of the work, and that the construction of the railway be proceeded with as soon as possible.
