NEED FOR REGULATIONS.
X-RAY PRACTITIONERS.
MR. JUSTICE STRINGER'S VIEW.
The need for regulations in regard to those giving X-ray treatment was strongly urged by Mr. Justice Stringer yesterday, when summing up in a Supreme Court action in which damages were claimed against a masseur for alleged negligence in giving X-ray treatment. It sisemed highly improper, said His Honor, that there should not be somo regulation to control the practice of X-ray treatment. It seemed to him there oughft to be some system of examination or licensing people who so practised. The plumber who was called in to attend to the waste-pipe was not allowed to do so unless he was licensed and had patsed an examination to show he posse.ised the lequisiie knowledge. Even the man who drove a motorcar was required, in the interests of the ?üblic, to have a certificate of competency. et a. man mi'g-ht practise as an X-ray expert, and might be handling thosa death-dealing rays, with no knowledge at all.
His Honor made it clear that he did not suggest that his remarks applied to the defendant in the case, who had had a long practical experience,, and rhight be well qualified to practise the art.
