BOXING.
THE MILITARY TOURNAMENT.
PRELIMINARY CONTESTS! The preliminary contests of the Auckland Military Sports Association's boxing carnival took place at the Drill Hall, Rutland' Street, last evening. There was a large attendance of spectators, including Colonel H. R. Potter, officer commanding the northern command, Lieut.-Colonel J." £. Duigan, chief staff officer, and Major Finnis, officer commanding -No. 1 regimental district. Mr. D. Sampson was referee. The tournament will be continued to-morrow and Thursday evenings. The following were tho results of last evening's contests :— Midget-weights.—G. Johnston, 6st 51b, beat G. Munco, 6st 61b (43rd Coy.). Paper-weights.—C. Reid, 6st 91b (34th Coy.), beat J. Donovan, 6st 91b (22nd Coy.). Bantam-weights. — o'Regan (Sacred Heart), beat L. Keros (25th Coy.); E. Gunner, Bst lib (28th Coy.), beat F. Rowe, Bst (34th Coy.). Fly-weights.—S. Waterson (Sacred Heart) beat Yon Lube (20th Coy.). Feather-weights.— -P. Boyle (27th Coy.) beat Backerstein (28th Coy.); Keenan (28th Coy.) beat Lindsay (22nd Coy.); F. Birch, Bst 121b (24th Coy.), beat E. J. Brennan, Bst 131b (22nd Coy.). Light-weights.—J. E. Rudling, 9sfc 101b (Technical College), beat'W. Dixon, 9st 101b (27th Coy.); E. Williamson (22nd Coy.) beat J. Boyle (28th Coy.); McGann (35th Coy.) beat Mouritfoot (23rd Coy.); R. Keenan (Sacred Heart) beat P. Hawkin (Northcote); A. King, 9st 121b (Sacred Heart), beat J.
