GRAFTON BRIDGE TRAFFIC.

Sir,-—lt is vi'itli surprise that '.I; have read the letter by "A.J.S." regarding tho Grafton bridge direction, " Keep to the right." For bis enlightenment I may state that by walking on the right-hand sida pavement, the approaching traffic can be seen, whereas by walking on the left-hand side pavement, the traffic is behind the pedestrian, find, should ho step suddenly on to the roadway, say, for an act of courtesy, he could easily be knocked down. It is quite obvious to ma, therefore, that the council is correct. James. Mackie.

Sir,—l make bold to sav that "A.J.S." is not a Grafton man. I cross Grafton Bridge every Hay and I know that there the left-hand footpath would be positively dangerous because-of the vehicular traffic coming from behind on the same side of tho bridge. Lat " A.J.S." try it. If for any reason he dares to step oil tho footpath he is more likely to be hit than not—and tho hospital is handy. On the right-hand footpath a pedestrian is facing the traffic. On such a narrow bridge carrying much traffic that is tha only sate rule. Graftox.
