ATTRACTIVE GIRL'S FATE.

A party of 50 men and several women at Frederick, a town in Maryland, waylaid Miss Dorothy Grandon, aged 20, while she was walking on the pubiic highway at night-time. They divested her of her clothes and tarred' and feathered her, afterwards leaving her unconscious. A passing fanner found the girl and carried her home to his wife, The latter administered home remedies. The girl is now at the point of death. Her body is terribly burned and scarred. A tale of jealously and outraged moral sensibilties lies behind the occurrence, which lias aroused public feeling. Miss Grandon went to Frederick on a visit. At various parties given in her honour she attracted attention. Recently the girl received anonymous letters asking her to leave the town: She declined to do so. Several women in the place alleged that their hemes had boen broken up and that their men were neglecting them owing to social gaieties. Miss Grandon has identified nine of her assailants, including two women who applied the tav. All these have been arrested.
