GRUDGE FOR 20 YEARS.

MAN AND SISTER-IN-LAW.

THREAT AGAINST WOMAN.

A strange- story of a man who was alleged to have been upset by his twin brother's, marriage, 20 years ago and to have retained his antipathy, for his sister-in-law ever since, was told at Hastings, England, on May 24, when Robert, Gran-, was summoned for using threats Xvki ward Agnes Granger. - - Mrs..Granger said when she was married her brother-in-law sent her a dreadful letter because she ? had parted him from his brother. He had recently sent the following letter:— , "Dear Agnes,—l have.not replied td your wicked letter, as I ielt it my duty to call personally and reply to it in " kihcL I have bought a dog whip for that purpose. Whether you will prefer to be thrashed in front of your own door or in front of the tihurch remains for you to say, but personally I think the effect of the battering would be more thorough if applied to your hide at the church, door; on Sunday morning. I will give you till: one o'clock to-day to apologise, otherwise I will 'make immediate application to the proper authorities for your arrest on a charge of .criminal, libel. Kindly, understand you have just overstepped the mark this time.—-Bob Granger." It was added by ■■ Mrs. Granger that her brother-in-law had shot at her. when she had a four|months-old baby in her arms, and had dragged her round- 'the room by' her hair. On one occasion, when' she'was on the lawn with, her children, she had to rush topers and lock; the doors. ' Granger denied using threats, and said the animus was all on the of Mrs. Granger, who had .criminally libelled him. The bench bound him over for 12 months in his own surety of £100 and twootner sureties of £100 each; in default-three months' imprisonment. -
