A meeting of citizens last night decided to give the visiting English Rugby League footballers a civic reception on their arrival from Auckland on July 28. There will be a Maori welcome in the Kimikimi hall in the evening, and the following morning the visitors will be driven to the Waingaro Hot Springs, returning in time to leave for Auckland by the Thames express. I THE CASE OF L. BROWN. SPECIAL MEETING TO-MORROW. Tho case of L. Brown and i/he Cite Club •was again before i'"i o Aueklafnd League last evening. Mr. E. Phelan presided. After discussion it was decided to call a special meeting of the Newton Club and the Leapue to-morrow evening, with a view to a final settlement. The Brown caso has been before the Auckland League for Beveral weeks. As a result of the League refusing to allow 33rown to register for the City Club the City senior grade team decided not to take the field last Saturday. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY.
