PRINCE OF WALES.
COMING VISIT TO AMERICA. TO ATTEND POLO MATCHES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9.30 p.m.)- NEW YORK. July 7. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times states that he has learned that the Prince of Wales, travelling incognito as Baron Renfrew, is expected to come to the United States to attend the polo matches, to be held early in September, between the American and British teams. The Prince, although himself an ardent player, will not participate in any official matches, but it is stated that he expects to take part in the preliminary practice matches. The Prince's visit to the United States, it is added, is likely to occupy a fortnight, after, which he will probably proceed to his ranch in Canada.
The suggestion for the visit was made in a letter from Mr. E. E. Stoddard, chairman of the Polo Association, to Captain Frederick Guest, a member'of the Prince's entourage. The latter replied that the Prince would probably enthusiastically accept an official invitation, which Was forthwith despatched.
