HEMORRHAGE SUSPECTED.

A sad fatality occurred on Saturday when a footballer, Mi-,, William Scaffe, aged 37, collapsed while watching a football match at Victoria Park and died later in the Auckland Hospital. Mr. Scaffe, who was-; a married man, residing at 7, Tudor Street, Devonport, had played from two to three o'clock for Auckland Londoners' Club ;in a second B grade Association football V: match against Y.M.C.A. 'He did not complain of having received any injury during the match, but at 3.30 o'clock, while standing with two friends on the sideline, he said he felt dizzy and almost immediately he became unconscious. He was attended on the ground by members of St. John Ambulance Association, but as efforts to revive him wore unavailing he was conveyed to the hospital •. by the St. John ambulance. An operation was immediately performed, but the unfortunate man* expired at 7.55 p.m. without regaining consciousness. The cause of death is believed to be hemorrhage of the brain. An inquest will be opened by the coroner this afternoon.
