TRANSPORT OF TOURISTS.
SOUTHERN MOTOR SERVICES.
AMALGAMATION ARRANGED.
The working agreement that has existed, somewhat loosely, among various motor tourist • services in the South Island for two years has been converted into a regular combination by the formation and registration of a company to which Jill the principal tourist services in the island are subscribers. The meeting which concluded the arrangement was attended by representatives of seven services, operating from the north to south of the island. The intention is to run all these services under one control, to include services to tourist resorts not at present regularly served, and to link up with taxi services in the various centres. The general object of the new company is stated to be the development and encouragement of the tourist traffic, and one of the immediate undertakings will be the organisation of a publicity campaign abroad, and especially in Australia, in conjunction with the Tourist Department and the Publicity Bureau.
