TAURANGA'S RAILWAY.
STARTING OF THE SERVICE.
CEREMONY NEXT WEEK.

'A public meeting to consider the mean. l ; of celebrating the opening of the railway to the- town, and the commencement of a regular train service was held last evening. Sir. C. E. Macmillan, M.P., who Bad interviewed the Minister for Public Works, Hon. J. G. Cerates, in Wellington, stated that Mr. Cbates could not -visit Tauremga before th«{ Opening of Parliament. The Minister, however, hud promised that he would give instructions that the service could .be commenced and the trains stopped at the Strand, pending the completion of the-station-build-ings. Mjr. 3?. 'S. Dyson, district JuKLie Works engineer, stated that he had just received instructions regarding the stopping of trains at the Strand. It was resolved that the ceremony take place on June 20. A motion was passed recording appreciation of the services rendered to the Dominion by the Minister for Public Works.
