SPORTS POSTPONED.
LEAGUE GAME ON WET FIELD.
Practically all- sports fixtures in Auckland with the exception of tho League football representative match, Australian Universities v. Auckland, were postponed on Saturday owing to the heavy rain. The League match was played at Carlaw Park, but though little rain fell during play th® game was robbed of much interest by the verv adverse conditions.
The third day of the Auckland Racing Club's Winter Meeting at Ellerslie was tho principal fixture affected. The principal golf matches set down for Saturday were the second round of the E. R. Bloom field bowl, to be played by members of the Auckland Golf Club at Middlamore, and the first round of the Gardner Cup, to be played by members of the Maungs-kiekie Club at Titirangi. Neither of these matches was commenced. This is the second occasion this season on which Saturday sports have had to be postponed on account of the weather.
