EMPLOYER'S GOODS STOLEN.

■ A salesman, Malcolm Frank Reid, aged 24, appeared on a charge of theft of a number of motor appliances, valued at £5 Is, the property of his employer. Evidence was given that accused called at the premises of the Westinghouse Electric Company, High Street, « where goods had been stored, and removed them without authority. They had not been seen since. Detective O'Brien stated that when he interviewed accused the latter denied removing ,the goods. An employee of the company had, however, picked oat accused from a group of men as the one who had taken them away. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence this morning, the suspension being mad© to afford him an opportunity of making restitution of £5 Is.. y THEFTS BY A YOUTH. A sixteen-year-old boy pleaded guilty to charges of theft of a gold pendant, valued at 15s, and of a£l note. It was stated that accused left; his home in Pokeno to coma to town, where he shared jj. room with a man from whom he had stolen the pound note. The gold pendant was stolen from a house in Takapuna where accused was employed. Accusecd was convicted on both charges and ' remanded for sentence until June 5, pending inquiries whether his fattier would take him back on the farm. OFFENCES DUE TO DRINK. Elizabeth Franklin, aged - 49, was charged with beiiifc drunk and with committing a grossly indecent act in the street. She was convicted and discharged on the first and fined £3, in default seven days' imprisonment on the other. , An elderly man, William Thomson Lufcner, aged -60, who failed to appear on charges of drunkenness and failure to pay his tram fare, was fined £1 for each offence. - ' 1 Florence Neville was . charged with drunkenness and also with a breach of her prohibition order. Accused, in a long and rambling statement, said she thought the time of her order was up* and she taken a glass of ale to " steady her nerves," after she had heard of her mother's illness. Mr. Poynion; "You can't have much respect for your mother if you go and get drunk." , Accused, who had two previous, convictions against her, was fined £5, in default seven days' imprisonment. PARASITE ON INDIANS.' Some time was occupied in the hearing of a case against Qanesih Givan, a, native of India, aged 23, ' changed with being a rogue and vagabond ' and .with being found, by, night on enclosed" premises in Grey Street. It was stated that, upon receiving. a complaint from a Chinese named Buck Skin, a constable went to the former's premises in Grey Street and found accused in - one of the outbuildings asleep, having apparently "camped for the night"; upon & bed of newspapers. Evidence was also given by Buck Skin, who termed himself a Chinese "insurance agent,'' to the effect thai some person, probably accused, had been sleeping in the outbuilding for several nights previously. Plain-clothes Constable Walton stated that he . had known accused for some i months, but had never heard of him doing any honest work. * Senior-Sergeant Rawle: ' ' The" man ,is I a nuisance to the Indians in th<* town, i Your Worship he steals what he can't beg. Ha confines his attention to the Chinese and Indians." Mr. Poynton: "Yes, he? is a parasite, ; and should be deported." A sentence of three months' imprisonment was, imposed. THREE CASES REMANDED. A remand until next Friday was granted in the case of William Henry Wolfe, ' charged with " having? received fc a quantity of white lead and paint brushes knowing they had been dishonestly obtained. Bail was allowed at £100. . Bail i for' a similar sum was granted in the case of Leslie Stadgett. (Mr. . Lennard), who was remanded ' until next Thursday upon; a charge of having broken and entered a store at Kinokahtt- and stolen £15. I Upon a charge of having obtained £4 13s 6d from Edward Newman ;by means of a false pretence, William. Thomas, aged 30 (Mr. Goldstine), . was ' remanded until next Friday. Bail was fixed at £100. ■
