NEW ' MURRAY'S CREEK.
The new reef recently discovered by the New Murray's Creek (Resfton) t Gold Mines, Ltd., is the subject of a circular just received by the Auckland shareholders, embodying a report by the secretary upon a recent visit to the mine. The new lode is in the wall of the rise above No. 2 Level, through which the present operations are being carried on. Tne find has been made about 12ft. * above No. 2 leVel. At the time of his visit, says the secretary, the reef had been driven upon for about 12ft, and was about 20in, wide, consisting of solid stone, with gold showing freely. The indications, he ad dm, point to this stone extending up & considerable distance. The manager estimates that there are about 240 ft of backs. The length of the reef has not been definitely proved, as the ground at this point between the two levels has not been touched. Instead of repairing the portion of No. 2 level in this vicinity, which is in a Very bad state, the manager intends to drive an intermediate level. The system of passes is such that the reef can be opened up at small cost. It is not intended to start crushing until the ore bins, which will hold about 250 tons, are full. There were about 24 tons in the bins at the time of the secretary's visit.
